Pat Peoples, the endearing narrator of this site Store; ›; site eBooks; ›; Literature & Fiction. The Silver Linings Playbook is the riotous and poignant story of how one man regains his memory and comes to terms with the magnitude of his wife's betrayal, .

The problem is that Pat is now home, living with his parents, and everything seems off; no one will talk to him about Nikki; his old friends are saddled with families; the Philadelphia Eagles keep losing, making his father moody; and his new therapist seems to be recommending adultery as a form of therapy.

When Pat meets the tragically widowed, physically fit, and clinically depressed Tiffany, she offers to act as a liaison between him and his wife, but only if he will give up watching football, agree to perform in this year's Dance Away Depression competition, and promise not to tell anyone about their "contract. In this brilliantly written debut novel, Matthew Quick takes us inside Pat's mind, deftly showing us the world from his distorted yet endearing perspective.

The result is a touching and funny story that helps us look at both depression and love in a wonderfully refreshing way. His work has been translated into thirty languages and has We want your feedback! I look forward to seeing the movie in order to compare the two and see what led to so many nominations for the Oscars and the Golden Globes. I loved the movie, and as usual the book was even better. Once his mother manages to help him out of the hospital, Pat vows to do all that he can in order to win back his wife, Nikki.

Along the way, Pat befriends an odd woman named Tiffany, who says that if Pat helps her with a dance routine, she will relay messages between him and his wife. With such an offer, Pat agrees to help Tiffany, and the two embark on a humorous and enlightening adventure. It is incredibly interesting, with witty dialogue and marvelous, well thought out characters.

The plot is driven, and there are no slow parts. If you look hard enough, you can find some hidden meanings, but you will have to look very, very hard.

Despite this, this novel is highly recommended for anyone who is looking for a funny and lovable pick-me-up book.

I wanted to read it because I liked the movie and felt the first person narrative would be effective. It was indeed and of course better than the movie!

Like t tuttleliz Jul 01, I hate that I knew about the movie first, and that I could only picture the cast actors as the characters in my mind even though I hadn't watched the movie.

But overall, I liked the book. The Nest. Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney.
